Bixlers CEO, Perry Sporn

I’m often asked, "How has a company founded in 1785 stuck around this long?”.

A cliché answer would be that we keep doing what’s always worked. And certainly, when it comes to delivering excellence and uncompromised quality for our clients, we’ve never strayed and never will.

However, the secret to our legacy and what we believe will lead us into the future is that we remain forever curious. To this end, the importance of agility and innovation cannot be overstated. At our core, we are artists and perfectionists. Our commitment to remaining 100% independently owned allows us to keep all manufacturing in North America and affords us the opportunity to focus on our custom design capabilities to create pieces that speak to the personal wants and needs of our customers. This in turn allows us to perfect our craft and to realize our vision of Bixlers being recognized as not only America’s Oldest Jeweler, but its leader in sustainably- crafted fine jewelry.

To achieve this, we looked for inspiration from our founder, Christian Bixler, a master Swiss clockmaker and metalsmith. In Christian’s time, at the dawn of our country, British clocks were considered the epitome of fine craftsmanship. American clocks were looked down upon as crude and unrefined. But Christian was undeterred. His precision drilling and polishing of pivot holes in the plates of his solid brass movements attained an accuracy that rivaled, and sometimes surpassed, any British clock of the 1700s. His artistic dial decorations were truly unique, featuring garlands of flowers, fruit, and cherubs. Today, many of these sought-after clocks still operate flawlessly, nearly two-and-a-half centuries later.

“Built to last” is part of our legacy. Our humble beginnings foretell our plan for North American craftsmanship to become recognized alongside the finest European jewelry brands. Our foundation has long been laid. Investing in people has been the cornerstone of our process since our beginning. Now, our in-house team of jewelers, gem setters, metallurgists, and designers work to preserve the Bixlers' legacy through explorations in technology and sustainable practices.

This holiday season we are proud to offer unique, iconic, and finely crafted one-off creations shimmering with rare and ethically sourced colored gemstones and diamonds.

Make your loved one’s fine jewelry piece a part of the story. The story we hope to continue writing together for generations to come.
